About the event
Your voluntary subs went to supporting the Air Ambulance Service for Kent, Surrey and Sussex, after Juidth Packer found out that one of the Paramedics at the Redhill station (where they have a micro gym including ergo) often uses the ergo to both keep fit (which they have to as paramedics) but also to emotionally ‘decompress’ especially after a shout. Working on shifts and odd hours makes indoor rowing a great way to keep fit.
The UK is served by 21 Air Ambulance regions which are all operated as charities The UK's Air Ambulance Charities - Air Ambulances UK
AAKSS covers all Kent, Surrey, East & West Sussex. 90m across an area of 19,096 sq km
To thank our wonderful rowing community for their support, AAKSS's local Surrey community fundraiser Rachel Oxbury has offered to do a talk for anyone interested in learning about what they do. After a brief overview of the UK, Rachel will share how KSS are a world-leading charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), how vital this service is and how much it costs to run each year. 87% of their total income raised through the incredible generosity of our supporters and we’re driven by our purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. She will share key facts and figures, with a chance for questions at the end. She is very excited to connect with our rowing community.
The talk will be approx. 25 mins, with plenty of time for Q&A.
- Presentation and Q&A via Teams, on Monday 22nd January, 7:30pm – 8:30pm
- Their next initiative is ‘Wear Red in Feb’ aimed at schools with their video available for school assembly. Wear Red - Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (aakss.org.uk)
